CATL Launches New Battery Especially For Electric Buses, Use Period Up To 15 Years

JAKARTA - Contemporary Amperex Technology Limited (CATL) officially launched a new battery with a long life special for electric buses, the battery is called Tianxing-B.

Quoting from the Carnewschina page, Tuesday, September 17, the Chinese manufacturer revealed that this new battery was made specifically for the electric bus industry, even its life period of up to 1.5 million kilometers or 15 years.

The battery has an energy density of 175hubs/kg which is claimed to be the highest energy density in the bus industry. The company also presented a warranty for this battery for 10 years or 1 million kilometers which was previously achieved.

In addition to a long life and long warranty, the battery from CATL also has various advantages, including already getting an IP69 battery rating that can survive in water for up to 72 hours.

Later CATL plans to use the Tianxing-B battery for 80 bus models, and has entered into partnerships with 13 customers including DongFeng, Yutong Bus to Golden Dragon.

As is known, Tianxing is a brand from CATL which is dedicated specifically to commercial vehicles. The first product under the brand is the Tianxing L battery which is indeed present for light commercial vehicles.

The Tianxing L battery itself offers a capacity of 200 kWh offered in a warranty of 8 years or 800 km. The battery supports 4C fast charging, which allows up to 60 percent SoC battery recharge in 12 minutes.

CATL announced that mass production of the Tiangxing-B battery will begin soon, but there are no additional details regarding the latest battery model.
