The "Take Notes With Gemini" Feature On Google Meet Coming Soon On Mobile Devices

JAKARTA - Google is developing a new feature called "Take Notes with Gemini" for Google Meet which can soon be used on mobile devices. This feature was first introduced for the Google Meet web version, and used Gemini artificial intelligence (AI) to summarize conversations in meetings automatically, provide complete notes, and add full transcripts. This provides an efficient solution for users who want to store meeting records more easily and practically.

In some of the codes found in the Gmail app for the latest version of Android (2024.09.08.673958928.Release), there are indications that this feature is being developed for mobile devices. Several codes state that this feature will function similarly to the web version, where Gemini AI will summarize conversations during meetings and store these records on Google Drive, as well as integrate them with Google Calendar. The resulting notes will be shared with all invited meeting participants.

The "Take Notes with Gemini" feature will allow users to get a meeting summary automatically, complete with a transcript of the conversation. Once the meeting is complete, Gemini will add the note to the meeting records document that are integrated with Google Drive and Google Calendar, making it easier for all participants who have the right to view it. With this feature, users no longer need to log manually during the meeting.

Real-Time Recording

During the meeting, users will get a notification of the records status from Gemini, such as "Gemini is taking notes" until "The recording has stopped". Unfortunately, in the early stages, Gemini only supports English for transcripts and conversation summarys, but in the future it is hoped that it will support more languages.

While not fully activated for mobile devices, this feature will be a major innovation for professionals who often hold meetings and want to get notes automatically anywhere and anytime, directly from their phones.

Although this feature sounds promising, AIs like Gemini still face challenges in terms of accuracy, especially if you have to deal with noisy background sounds, various accents, or complicated discussions. To be truly useful, AI Gemini must be able to capture and summarize the conversation appropriately and accurately. However, AI technology continues to improve, and Gemini's capabilities are expected to be more sophisticated with time.

Currently, the desktop version of "Take Notes with Gemini" is only available to Google Workspace subscribers who subscribe to Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education Premium, or add-on AI Meetings & Messaging. However, Google is expected to expand testing of this feature to more users before finally releasing it to the public in general, including ordinary users.

With the presence of this feature on mobile devices, Google Meet users will find it easier to manage their meetings efficiently, without worrying about losing important details discussed during meetings. Gemini AI is expected to be able to provide a better and more intuitive recording experience for professional needs in the digital era.
