The Arrest Of The Philippine Fugitive Former Mayor Of Bamban In Tangerang Regarding China's Online Gambling Network

JAKARTA - Mayor of Bamban Alice Leal Guo who is a fugitive from the Philippines was arrested in Tangerang on Tuesday night, September 3. Guo ran away from his country after being suspected of being involved in China's online gambling network.

Guo was also accused of being a Chinese citizen who disguised himself as a Filipino citizen in order to run for office.

"Indonesia marks Guo as an illegal alien because they know he is a fugitive in the Philippines, then there is also a misinterpretation of his citizenship in his passport," said a spokesman for the Philippine Immigration Bureau, Dana Sandoval on Wednesday, Wednesday, September 4, quoted from AFP.

The Philippines has requested Guo extradition. The process of submitting extradition has been carried out by the Manila Immigration Bureau and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in coordination with authorities in Indonesia who secured Guo's return.

"As soon as possible [extradition]," said NBI Director Jaime Santiago.

Guo is also wanted by the Philippine Senate for refusing to attend a clarification hearing regarding his alleged involvement in an agricultural fraud project in Bamban.

In this case, I faced allegations of corruption, money laundering, and human trafficking after the raid on the agricultural fraud project in Bamban.
