Sonos Cancels Launching Version Of Its Old App

JAKARTA Not long ago, news emerged that Sonos officials were discussing bringing back their old application. This news was finally confirmed directly by Sonos CEO Patrick Spence.

Through the Reddit platform, Spence said that his party is trying to find alternatives to solve problems with mobile applications, one of which is by re-launching the old Sonos app. This plan arises because improvements to the Sonos app will take time.

"Everything we have thought of is to find the fastest way to improve your system. In fact, until now I hope we can re-release the old app as an alternative for those of you who are having problems," Spence said.

To restore his old app, Sonos has conducted extensive trials. Spence explained that this test didn't work because updates on the software were currently unable to run in older versions of the app.

"Sonos is not only a mobile app, but also software running on speakers and in the cloud," Spence explained. "We've updated the software running on our speakers and in the cloud to a point where it's currently less reliable and less stable."

With the advent of obstacles during testing, Sonos decided not to re-launch its old version of the app. Instead, Sonos will continue to improve its latest software by launching bug fixes in stages.

"After extensive testing, we have a heavy heart to conclude that re-release will make things worse, not better. I'm sure this is disappointing. It's (also) disappointing for me," Spence said.
