JAKARTA - The South Kalimantan (Kalsel) Provincial Government managed to set a new record at the Indonesian Record Museum (MURI) with a span of 6 kilometers of Sasirangan cloth, Tuesday (20/8). This event was held in the South Kalimantan Provincial Government office area and was attended by the Chairman of the Central Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI), Hendry Ch Bangun, who also praised the South Kalimantan Provincial Government's initiative.
According to Hendry, the MURI record-breaking is an innovative and dynamic step from the South Kalimantan Provincial Government in promoting local culture. "South Kalimantan is always active and responds quickly to the situation. This record breaking is in line with the implementation of the Great Culture Carnival Geopark Status, which can make the Meratus Geopark a green and popular tourist destination," said Hendry after the opening ceremony as written statement received by VOI.
He added that the involvement of the media in this activity, especially in conjunction with the XIV South Kalimantan 2024 National Journalists Sports Week (Porwanas) series, had a positive impact on the promotion of the event. "This record breaking is the main attraction, but the big goal is to increase public awareness of Meratus Geopark," explained Hendry.
