The SAR Team Established A Search Post At The Makassar KM Passenger TKP Missing After Jumping Into The Mahakam River
The SAR team is still looking for a missing man suspected of jumping while riding a Makassar C2 Motorboat (KM) to the Mahakam River, Muara Muntai area, Kutai Kartanegara Regency (Kukar), East Kalimantan (Kaltim).
"On Monday, August 19, at 11.40 WITA, the Balikpapan Search and Rescue Office (KPP) received information from the Kukar Regency Polair, that on Monday morning, at 00.10 WITA there were ship passengers jumping into the river," said Head of Balikpapan KPP Dody Setiawan in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, Monday, August 19, confiscated by Antara.
The missing man was named Samsul Alam (24), a resident of Jalan H Nurdin, Melak Ulu Village, Melak District, West Kutai Regency. The victim boarded the ship from Melak Harbor to Samarinda Harbor since Sunday 18 August at 17.30 WITA.
The victim jumped from when the ship was in the Teluk 2 area, Kayu Batu Village, Muara Muntai District. After jumping into the river, the victim immediately drowned.
The Samarinda SAR post after receiving a report moved to the scene with a distance of 132 kilometers on Monday 19 August around 11.55 WITA, with an estimated trip of about five hours.
"At 17.50 WITA, the Samarinda SAR Post Rescue Team arrived at the scene, then at 18.00 WITA the Samarinda SAR Post Rescue Team coordinated with related SAR elements to conduct a search. Tonight the search was temporarily suspended, but the joint SAR Team will continue tomorrow morning at 0700 WITA," he said.

He also said that currently the joint SAR team is opening a post near the scene, precisely at coordinates 0.22'.8"S 116°25'15.3"E.
The elements involved in the joint SAR Team are the Samarinda SAR Post, the Kukar Resort Police Unit, Muara Muntai Koramil, Muara Muntai Police, the victim's family and residents of Muara Muntai.
"Meanwhile, equipment at the location includes rescue cars, personnel trucks, rubber boats, attached motors, thermal drones, diving equipment, communication equipment, and medical equipment," said Dody.
