Central Kalimantan Police Record 3 Corruption Suspects At Sampit Expo Building, State Rugikan Rp3.5 Billion

The police estimated that state losses reached Rp3.5 billion from the corruption case in the construction of the Sampit Expo Building in East Kotawaringin Regency, Central Kalimantan (Central Kalimantan) in 2019-2020.

The Head of Public Relations of the Central Kalimantan Police, Kombes Pol. Erlan Munaji, said that this corruption case involved three suspects. Two of them are the Head of the East Kotawaringin Trade and Industry Small and Medium Enterprises Cooperative (Diskoperindaag) with the initials ZL and FZ.

Suspects ZL and FZ are currently being held at the Central Kalimantan Police Headquarters Detention Center.

The Director of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) of the Central Kalimantan Police, Kombes Pol Setyo K Heriyanto, said that the suspect ZL, who has been on the DPO since June 2024, was arrested at the Green Pramuka Apartment in Jakarta on Saturday, August 17, 2024.

Previously, another suspect in this case, FZ, had been detained.

"Regarding the suspect ZL, we arrested based on DPO/20/VII/RES.3.3/2024/Ditreskrimsus issued by investigators on July 19, 2024," he said.

He added that in this corruption case the three suspects did not work in accordance with the applicable provisions in the Sampit Expo Building construction project so that the BKP calculation cost the state Rp3.5 billion.

"The suspects are charged with Article 2 paragraph (1) and/or Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law No. 31/1999, as amended by Law No. 20/2001 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) to 1 of the Criminal Code, with a maximum penalty of 20 years and a maximum fine of Rp. 1 billion," he said.
