Tsunami Shelter In NTB Garapan Waskita Karya Called KPK It Turns Out That It Has Collapsed

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said the temporary evacuation site (TES) or tsunami shelter in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) which was worked on by PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk had collapsed. This condition has been seen directly because the team has been sent.

"This is being sent by his team. But what is clear is that according to the photos I saw, maybe colleagues have taken photos, the building has partially collapsed, some of this, so, it cannot be used," said KPK Investigation Director Asep Guntur to reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday 15 August.

Asep said this examination collaborated with a number of parties. For example, the construction and auditor expert from the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP).

"If it is related to the issue of building materials and others, it will be (examined, ed) by experts. Because we bring in experts, yes, construction experts and experts in calculating state losses," he said.

Previously reported, the KPK was investigating allegations of corruption in the construction of a temporary evacuation site (TES) or tsunami shelter in NTB whose construction was carried out by PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk and then sub-contracted. Two people have been named as suspects, details of one person is a state administrator and the other comes from BUMN.

It was stated that the construction was carried out by the Building and Environmental Planning Task Force, the Implementation Activities for Building and Environmental Planning (PBL) of West Nusa Tenggara Province, Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing in 2014. The investigation into the alleged corruption has been carried out since 2023.

The budget for the construction of shelters, which ends up being corrupted, comes from the Ministry of PUPR and PT Waskita Karya (Persero) to become contractors. The alleged mode is to reduce the quality of development.

The project cost a budget of up to IDR 20 billion. Meanwhile, the state's loss is approximately IDR 19 billion and can still increase because the calculation is still being carried out.
