Car In-Car Theft Specialist Arrested In Palangkaraya, Gold 5 Grams And IDR 4.8 Million Confiscated

The specialist in theft of valuables in a car in Palangkaraya City, Central Kalimantan (Kalteng), was arrested by the police.

Pahandut Police Chief Kompol Volvy Apriana said the suspect, with the initials BRM (53), was detained at the Pahandut Police Headquarters Detention Center (Rutan). The perpetrator carried out the action recently on Jalan Panglima Tampei Street, Pahandut District.

"The incident began with a public report on Friday, August 2, 2024 at his residence on Jalan Seth Adji. Now the suspect with the initials BRM, a resident of Bogor, has been arrested and is ready to be further prosecuted," said Volvy Apriana in Central Kalimantan, Wednesday, August 7, which was confiscated by Antara.

He said the suspect had just arrived in Palangkaraya City for 10 days on purpose to launch the action.

From the results of the disclosure, the police also managed to secure a black bag which contained Rp4.8 million in cash and a gold ring weighing 5 grams which is now evidence.

"Based on the suspect's confession, he has stolen three times, including around Jalan Tjilik Riwut at 15.30 WIB. The perpetrator used the T key to dismantle the car and managed to steal two black bags containing cellphones and bags," he said.

Furthermore, Volvy said the victim managed to track the suspect to his boarding house on Jalan Seth Adji. However, the suspect tried to escape by climbing the roof of the house and breaking into a neighbor's boarding house. The suspect's arrest was made at 21.00 WIB.

After being caught, a search was carried out on the suspect's house and several stolen items were found, including items from other victims in Kapuas.

In addition to the case in Palangka Raya, the suspect was also involved in the theft case in Kapuas. At that time the victim was a resident who wanted to seek treatment at the Orchid clinic.

The suspect was able to commit theft at three crime scenes (TKP) in one day.

"The suspect is also subject to Article 363 in conjunction with Article 362 of the Criminal Code with the threat of imprisonment for seven years," said Volvy.
