Kremlin: Russia Will Shoot Down Ukrainian F-16 Fighter Jets

JAKARTA - The Kremlin insists Russian troops will shoot down US-made F-16 fighter jets sent to Ukraine. Russia says the F-16 will not have a significant impact on the course of war.

Lithuanian and US officials confirmed Ukraine had received its first long-awaited jet order, which was equipped with a 20-mm cannon and could carry bombs, rockets, and missiles.

Asked about the F-16, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, "if I'm not mistaken, a reward (for Russian troops shooting their fall) has been offered," he said.

He predicted those planes would not be a "magic display" for the Kyiv squad.

These planes will appear and the number will gradually decrease, they will be shot down and destroyed, "he said.

"This (aircraft) shipment will not be able to significantly affect the dynamics of events on the front lines," he added.
