Badminton Philipsen Wins 10th Etape Tour De France 2024 Thanks To Mathieu's Help Van Der Poel
JAKARTA -Based Philipsen from Belgium finally won the Tour de France this year by winning the 10th stage through a very good sprint on Tuesday, July 9. Philipsen, who won four stages in the world's biggest race last year, made a profit from his perfect help by his Alpecin-Deceuninck team-mate as well as world champion Mathieu van der Poel, to win after a distance of 187.3 km from Orleans.
Eritrean racer, Biniam Giramay, who has won two stages in this edition, won second place, while German racer Pascal ACkermann finished third.
Meanwhile, the Slovenian racer, Tadej Pogacar, maintains a yellow jersey as the leader of the overall standings after a calm day as the peloton prepares for a difficult mountain stage at Massif Central on Wednesday, July 10.

Peloton remained compact throughout the day despite some light rain and everyone remained calm after a break on Monday, July 8. The commotion occurred in the last five kilometers as the sprinter team searched for the best position and Alpecin-Deceuninck by doing their best.
Van der Poel hit the pedal at a distance of 300 meters and helped Philipsen to finish it comfortably for his seventh win in his Tour career.
This is a big release for the 26-year-old racer, whose best result is the second place since the start in Florence.

"We came to Tour de France with a strong leadout team and it paid off today. The sign has been checked, now we can continue the Tour with more confidence," said Philipsen.
"We have to continue to believe, but every time you waste an opportunity, it is lost, and a limited opportunity, sometimes the breakaway can continue to the end. Last week it wasn't our week and we intend to start this week with a win," added Philipsen, who praised Van der Poel for his hard work at the end of the race.
"Mathieu is a very strong person. When he can show his strength and play his role, not many racers can imitate him. Having a world champion as a leadout guy is fantastic," he added.
The only bad news for Philipsen is that he doesn't get many points because Girmay, his rival remains strong in controlling point classification. Girmay meanwhile has 267 points compared to Philipsen who has 195 points on the tour so far.
