Maersk Ship Becomes The Target Of Flying Objects In Aden Bay

JAKARTA - shipping giant Maersk said one of its ships, Maersk Sentosa, was targeted by objects flying north of Aden Bay.

Maersk (MAERSKb.CO) told Reuters there were no reports of injuries to the crew or damage to the ship or cargo.

A spokesman for the Copenhagen-based company said the ship was one of the US-flagged vessels sailing for its subsidiary, Maersk Line, Limited.

The unnamed merchant ship captain reported an explosion near the ship about 180 nautical miles (333 km) east of Yemen's Nishtun, Britain's Maritime Trade Operation (UKMTO) said in a note of his advice on Tuesday, July 9.

UKMTO said the ship and its crew survived.

Houthi militants in Yemen have launched drone and missile attacks on ships in the Red Sea, the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and Aden Bay since November.

The Houthis say they act as solidarity with the Palestinian people over the war in Gaza.
