KPK Observes 4 LNG Procurement At PT Pertamina Because There Are New Findings
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said there were new findings related to the procurement of four natural gas (LNG) liquids at PT Pertamina (Persero).
This was conveyed by the Director of Investigation of the KPK Asep Guntur when asked about the deepening carried out by his agency on four ongoing procurement processes. This new finding emerged when investigating allegations of procurement corruption that ensnared the former President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), Karen Agustiawan.
"So there is something new that we found during an investigation with a criminal act of corruption committed by KA's brother. This is related to PT CCL (Corpus Christie Liquefaction), LCC," Asep told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, July 4.
Asep did not want to elaborate further on this new finding. He only said that the alleged corruption in the procurement of LNG at PT Pertamina (Persero) would be resolved.
In fact, the anti-corruption commission appealed against Karen Agustiawan's decision at the Jakarta Corruption Court level. This is because the panel of judges did not impose additional sentences in the form of replacement money as demanded by the prosecutor.
The prosecutor charged Karen with 11 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to 6 months in prison for corruption in LNG procurement. In addition, he was also asked to pay compensation of Rp. 1.09 billion and US$104 thousand, a subsidiary of 2 years in prison.
"So we'll just have to wait and we're also in the process of that," he said.
