Trump's Banks, Russian Ambassador Says Ukraine's Crisis Can't End In A Day

Russian Ambassador to the United Nations Vassily Nebenzia said on Monday, "Ukraine crisis cannot be resolved within one day," when asked about claims by US President Donald Trump that he could end the war within 24 hours if re-elected.

"The Ukrainian crisis cannot be completed in one day," Nebenzia told a news conference to mark the start of Russia's term of office as President of the United Nations Security Council in July.

Trump, a Republican presidential candidate who has not provided any details, said if there was a "real president" in the US respected by Russian President Vladimir Putin, then Moscow would not invade Ukraine in February 2022.

"I will resolve the war between Putin and (President of Ukraine Volodymyr) Zelensky as president-elect before I take office on January 20. I will finish the war," Trump said last week in a presidential election debate against Democratic and incumbent candidate, President Joe Biden.

"I will finish it quickly, before I take office," he continued.

US voters will vote on November 5 to elect the next president for a four-year term.

The results of Uncle Sam's country election are important to Russia, although Moscow is trying to shrink it, as the result will determine the extent of Washington's commitment to continue supporting Ukraine against Moscow, as well as supplying it with Washington's advanced weapons.

In response, Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung told Reuters: "President Trump is the most effective statesman and negotiator in history he will resolve this conflict when he is elected."

The Kremlin itself previously said any peace plans for Ukraine proposed in the future should reflect reality on the ground, but President Putin remains open to negotiations.
