Andaliman 'Batak Pepper' Exported To Germany

MEDAN - North Sumatra Province began exporting Andaliman to Germany. In the initial stage, 574 kilograms of Andaliman were exported.

"CV SZT's Andaliman exports to Germany are 574 kilograms worth IDR 431 million," said Head of the Belawan Agricultural Quarantine Center, Andi Yusmanto in Medan, as quoted by Antara, Sunday, March 14.

Export of cooking spices known as "Batak pepper" was the first time from North Sumatra.

"High appreciation to farmers and business actors who have been able to produce quality commodities and are able to penetrate the export market," said Andi.

According to Andi, his party carried out a series of quarantine measures for commodities to be exported in accordance with the requirements of the destination country.

He explained, andaliman (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC) is a plantation commodity from the plantation sub-sector that can provide a spicy, biting, and bitter sensation on the tongue and feels numb.

The effect of Andaliman has made and tempted professional chefs from around the world to take advantage of Andaliman.

"In line with efforts to increase agricultural exports through the gratification program initiated by the Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo, various commodities and new export destination countries have become the focus of Agricultural Quarantine," said Andi.
