Minister Of Transportation Budi Asks The Construction Of Cirebon Harjamukti Terminal To Bring Local Wisdom
CIREBON - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi made a visit to Cirebon, to review the progress of the construction or revitalization of the Harjamukti Terminal as well as the test drive of the driving test vehicle.
With the new colors and designs of Harjamukti Terminal, Minister of Transportation Budi hopes that services to the community will be further improved. "The Harjamukti terminal has begun to be built, meaning there is a new color, a new design, and a new atmosphere", he explained via an electronic message received on Saturday, March 13.
Also attending the review were Director-General of Land Transportation Budi Setiyadi and Director of Road Transportation Facilities Risal Wasal. Minister of Transportation Budi also advised that terminal construction should not leave the local wisdom behind.
"I advise that in this development, besides being able to optimize services, do not forget to also expose local wisdom. For example in Cirebon there is batik, batik must be exposed. Because local wisdom becomes something good for an area", said the Minister of Transportation.
The Minister of Transportation also appreciated the staff of the Directorate General of Land Transportation who have made efforts to carry out development and have collaborated with local governments. The Minister of Transportation requested that the progress of this development be properly monitored so that it can be completed on time.

The Minister of Transportation further hopes that the management of the Harjamukti terminal can involve the private sector to reduce dependence on the limited state budget.
"Imagine if we have 100 terminals, we have to pay for each point, how much money we have to spend. On the other hand, the government has built many other transportation infrastructures throughout Indonesia. Since our state budget is not much, I hope that the construction of this terminal can cooperate with the private sector. So that the terminal can finance itself through CAPEX or OPEX", said the Minister of Transportation.
On the same occasion, the Minister of Transportation also reviewed the testing of the mobile pilot test vehicle. This vehicle has a large container equipped with a brake, wheel, tire groove, dimensional gauge, exhaust emission gauge, noise test equipment, emittance, and window tint.
The Minister of Transportation appreciated the innovation made by the Directorate General of Land Transportation, in an effort to solve the test problem in the regions. The Minister of Transportation hopes that consistency and collaboration with the Regional Government in Cirebon and its surroundings can be carried out well because this cannot run alone without good cooperation between the Ministry of Transportation and the Regional Government.
"This is a surprise from the Director-General of Land Transportation. We will give this mobile KIR test vehicle to Land Transportation Management Center (BPTD) West Java, which will carry out the kir test. One tool can cover 3-10 districts. I ordered my fellow officers to take good care of the safety and environmental aspects", said the Minister of Transportation.
Review the Tanjung Timbang Bridge in Brebes
After the visit to Cirebon, the Minister of Transportation continued his visit to Brebes to inspect the Tanjung Timbang Bridge in Brebes. The existence of the bridge currently managed by the Ministry of Transportation is expected to solve the problem of over-dimensional and overload (ODOL) trucks, which have the potential to endanger safety and damage roads.
Director-General of Land Transportation Budi Setiyadi said that his party had taken steps to optimize the function of the bridge in supervising ODOL trucks. One of them is imposing an obligation to transfer cargo on ODOL trucks.
"Now we are changing the scheme, if we previously got a ticket, now it is done by transferring the cargo. If we carry on with the ticket, the fine is only 150 to 200 thousand, it is very cheap and does not provide a deterrent effect and is not proportional to the losses caused by ODOL vehicles such as accidents and road damage", said Director General Budi.
Director-General Budi said that the implementation of the cargo transfer scheme has received support from regional heads.
"There have been many regional heads who support it, starting from Governors, Regents, and Mayors. We still tolerate until 2023, logistic vehicles whose cargo exceeds up to 50 percent, we will transfer their cargo to other vehicles", said Director General Budi.
