A Mercedes Hit A Cyclist At The HI Roundabout Went Viral, Turns Out The Perpetrator Is A 19-Year-Old Teenager Who Lives In Bintaro

JAKARTA - The Traffic Directorate of DKI Jakarta Regional Police secured the suspect that allegedly hit a cyclist at the Hotel Indonesia (HI) roundabout on Friday, March 12 yesterday. This incident went viral and caught the attention of netizens.

The perpetrator was apparently a young man with the initials DA (19) who was driving a black Mercedes.

"Based on the results of the examination at the scene and witnesses who saw and knew the identity of the vehicle, we then traced it. Thank God, it was less than 24 hours, last night around 12 o'clock in the evening, we were able to secure the perpetrator", said the Director of Traffic of the DKI Jakarta Regional Police, Sambodo Purnomo Yogo, reported by Antara, Saturday, March 13.

Sambodo said the police secured the DA at his residence in the Bintaro area, South Tangerang. Apart from securing the perpetrators, the police also confiscated the vehicle involved in the accident as evidence.

"A vehicle suspected of being involved in traffic accident was also being confiscated last night", he added.

Sambodo said that currently, the perpetrator is still at the Office of Law Enforcement Sub-Directorate of the Traffic Police of the Metro Jaya Police in Pancoran, South Jakarta, for further investigation.

However, Sambodo said that no suspect had yet been named because the investigation was still ongoing.

"Of course, later, based on the results of the examination of DA. Later, the investigator will see if it meets the elements for us to raise as a suspect in this case of accident", he concluded.

Previously, a hit and run incident between a black Mercedes and a cyclist that occurred at the HI Roundabout on Friday morning at 06.37 a.m. local time was recorded by CCTV cameras and went viral on social media.

At that time the victim was passing through the HI Roundabout and was hit by the perpetrator's car with police number B 1728 SAQ until he was unconscious. According to statements from a witness, after hitting the victim, the perpetrator immediately fled.
