Hotel Managers In Gambir Find One Bag Fake Dollar Belonging To A Nigerian Citizen
Five suspects in the circulation of counterfeit Dollar (USD) in the Gambir ring 1 area, Central Jakarta have been arrested by the police. The five suspects are known to have the initials HTS, (40), SD (42), AW (34), MAW (27), and BH (51).
Gambir Metro Police Chief Kompol Jamalinus Nababan said the disclosure of the money counterfeiting case began when hotel managers in the Gambir area found a bag containing a dollar deposit from room number 637 on May 26, 2024, at around 14.00 WIB.
Hotel managers immediately reported their findings to the Gambir Metro Police. After an investigation was carried out, it turned out that the counterfeit money belonged to a guest with the initials AW who is a foreign national (WNA) from Nigeria.
The counterfeit dollar money is left in the cupboard drawer.
"We checked the authenticity of the dollar money, it turned out that the money was fake," Kompol Jamalinus told reporters, Monday, June 3.
After conducting an investigation, the police managed to find the location of AW's whereabouts.

"On Monday, May 27, the perpetrator with the initials AW was in an apartment in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta. Then we moved there and managed to secure 3 people in the apartment," he said.
The three perpetrators who were arrested were each with the initials AW, BH, and MAW. From the arrest of the three suspects, the police then developed and succeeded in securing two other suspects, namely HTS and SD.
Both were arrested in an apartment in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta. From their hands, the police confiscated a brown envelope containing 49 pieces of black dollars, a black plastic bag containing 127 pieces of dollars, and a white plastic bag containing 1,364 pieces of counterfeit dollars.
Jamalinus revealed that if the counterfeit dollar was made, it would be worth around Rp. 300 million. The suspect was charged with Article 244 of the Criminal Code concerning counterfeit money and circulation with a threat of 15 years in prison.
