Jokowi Affirms He Is Not A Furniture Driver In Today's Memory, June 2, 2014
JAKARTA Memories of today, 10 years ago, June 2, 2014, the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is hot with people who consider his figure low as a furniture maker. Jokowi said he was not a furniture maker but an exporter of wood products abroad.
Previously, the decision of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) to elect Jokowi as a presidential candidate was greeted with joy. Many support the PDIP's move. However, not a few doubted, even insulted Jokowi.
Jokowi's existence in politics cannot be doubted. The figure of the entrepreneur often appears when participating in political contestations. Jokowi was once Mayor of Solo for two terms. Even his political career increased when the party that raised him, PDIP ran for a candidate for governor of Jakarta.
Jokowi's popularity and popularity are considered to have brought him to the seat of DKI 1. The results are brilliant. Jokowi was able to become the elected Governor of DKI Jakarta after winning the 2012 gubernatorial election. PDIP cadres began proposing Jokowi's name as a presidential candidate for the 2014 presidential election.
Some cadres feel that it is time for PDIP Chairman Megawati Soekarnoputri to rest to participate in political contestation. The echo of Jokowi's support as a candidate for PDIP presidential candidate appears everywhere. PDIP cadres in the regions began to support the discourse.
The emergence of Jokowi's name was not only responded positively. Many also responded negatively. Ruhut Sitompul, for example. The Democrat politician considers Jokowi unfit to be a presidential candidate. Even though many survey institutions have started to place Jokowi as the most potential Indonesian presidential candidate.
At first Ruhut underpinned his opinion because Jokowi did not change much in Solo or Jakarta. Then, criticism began with insults. He said the furniture maker was not worthy of being the number one person in Indonesia.
PDIP considers it impossible to nominate Jokowi. Jokowi's political career is considered sufficient at the level of the Mayor or governor alone, nothing more.

"There are still those who are good at it? It was destroyed. That's the first survey, now we see the road is getting more congested, flooding everywhere, it's not appropriate for him to become President. How, so the Mayor of Solo failed, the furniture maker wants to be a presidential candidate."
"Don't be a victim of imaging, oh my, you're still good at him. PDIP just can't nominate him, who wants to support, wants to run as an independent candidate? Yes, you can't, there is a law, this is a state of law, if the governor, mayor, regent can," said Ruhut Sitompul as quoted on the Kontan page, May 19, 2013.
PDIP actually broke the assumption that Luhut and people were demeaning Jokowi. PDIP then chose Jokowi, who was paired with Jusuf Kalla (JK) as a presidential and vice-presidential candidate on March 14, 2014. Jokowi's determination is increasingly giving rise to insults.
Jokowi is still being mentioned as the furniture maker who won the number one Indonesian. Jokowi was then angry with this assumption. He felt he had to straighten out the assumption of a furniture maker on June 2, 2014. He revealed this at a meeting with volunteers in Yogyakarta.
Jokowi revealed that he was not a furniture maker, but an exporter of wood products abroad. Jokowi said that during his time as an entrepreneur he often had to lobby international consumers. This activity was carried out to introduce Indonesian wood products in the eyes of the world.
"The variety is said by Jokowi to be just a furniture maker, a carpenter, macem-macem. Even though I am an exporter of wood products to foreign countries. Once in a while I want to be arrogant if I am an exporter, not a furniture maker. Imagine, I have to lobby with international consumers too, right," Jokowi explained as quoted by the Tempo page, June 2, 2014.
