Microsoft Phone Link Presents Capability To Take Text From Photos

JAKARTA Microsoft will launch the Optical Character Recognition feature (OCR) on Phone Link in the near future. With this feature, users can pick up or copy text from the desired image. Reporting from Windows Central, the OCR feature can be accessed via the Phone Link application on the computer. Therefore, this feature does not have a device constraint that is compatible or dependent on a given type of mobile phone. The feature of copying text directly from the image will be available on the Phone Link version of 1,24051.91.0. For now, users can try its features through the Insider Preview Build version 22635,366 inside the Fast Release Channel. To use this feature, users only need to open any image in the Photo section via the Phone Link application. Then, click the icon with the text label on the menu line. Once clicked, Phone Link will detect the entire text in the image. Once the text is detected, the user will see the option of selecting all text or copying all text. When clicking the second option, the text will be immediately copied and the user can paste the text into any application.

So far, according to The Verge's test, the OCR feature is working pretty well, but there are still some errors. In fact, this error is far more than the text extrator developed by Samsung or Apple. Despite the shortcomings, this feature is still being tested by Microsoft for some time to come. If the test goes well, the OCR feature for copying this text may be released to the public in the near future.
