KPAI: The Case Of SMPN 73 Tebet Students Falling From The 3rd Floor Should Not Be Underestimated
TANGERANG - The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) spoke up regarding the incident of a student of SMPN 73, Tebet, South Jakarta who attempted suicide by jumping from the 3rd floor of his school.
KPAI commissioner, Aris Adi Leksono, considers that the bullying case experienced by a junior high school student with the initials GAD (14) should not be underestimated. Because the victims who felt they were forbidden by their friends finally took the action.
"This incident shows that violence against children, education units should not be taken lightly. It is proven that the impact is not only physical and psychological, but until the child ends his life and hurts him," said Aris when confirmed, Tuesday, May 21.
Aris also said that to prevent this from happening again, his party would encourage the Regional Government (Pemda) to provide assistance to victims.
"We will explore the factors that cause, encourage child protection services for local governments to be involved in assisting child victims. Children need psychological assistance, recovery," he said.
In addition, his party will also see the condition of the school when visiting SMPN 73 Tebet to see the security side of student supervision.

As previously reported, a student at SMPN 73, Tebet, South Jakarta with the initials GAD was desperate to jump from the 3rd floor of the school building, Monday, May 20, at 12.00 WIB. After a police investigation was carried out, GAD admitted that his friends had avoided him. The victim felt that no friend cared for him. Until finally he tried to commit suicide, but failed.
"The results of the victim's brief interview did this because he felt disturbed and not accompanied by his schoolmate," said Tebet Police Chief, Kompol Murohih, Monday, May 20.
"When jumping out of class, the victim was frustrated. On his own wishes, no one pushed him," he said.
