Dozens Of Students And Families Of Victims Of The Lingga Kencana Depok Vocational School Accident Hold Action In Front Of The Indonesian Ministry Of Education And Culture Office
JAKARTA - Dozens of students held solidarity and prayers with students throughout Jabodetabek with the hashtag #pelajarberduka in front of the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) office, Tanah Abang District, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, May 15, evening.
This student solidarity action was held at 19.30 WIB. A solidarity action was carried out over an accident experienced by a group of students bus at SMK Lingga Kencana Depok on the Ciater derivative road, Subang Regency, West Java, last Saturday, May 11, 2024.
Dozens of students who held solidarity action between students were marked by sobs from the students who were present. The students also carried banners, photo frames of the victims and torch flames in front of the gates of the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture office.
The students who attended also held a candle burning action and prayer together. They also carried banners with white cloth with black ink that read "Goodbye friends, may you rest, our prayers are with you". The banner was stretched in front of the fence of the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture office.
According to Tengku Rabia, student representatives who hold solidarity actions hope that the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture will pay special attention to students at Lingga Kencana Vocational School for accidents experienced by students.
"We hope there will be attention from the state. Attention from the state is very important, especially from the Ministry of Education and Culture. Hopefully in the future there will be no discrimination between private and state (schools)," he told reporters at the location, Wednesday, May 15.
Meanwhile, the family of one of the victims, Aida Putri, said that she was a cousin of a student accident victim named Mahesa.

"I'm his cousin from Mahesa, I'm in the same neighborhood as Dimas and Intan," he said.
In addition, Salila, a student representative at the Lingga Kencana Depok Vocational School who was also present, said that she did not get any inkling during the accident.
"I'm on Bus 3, I'm waiting for Bus 1 at the center by - by. There's no (infession), we've had fun singing together. There's no sign (of a feeling)," he recalled, shedding tears.
The student solidarity action then disbanded from the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture office on Wednesday, May 15, at around 20.30 WIB. This action was also under tight guard from the Polda Metro Jaya and Tanah Abang Metro Police.
