KPK Will Recall Sidoarjo Regent Next Week

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has rescheduled the examination of Sidoarjo Regent Ahmad Muhdlor Ali as a suspect in the alleged cuts and receipts of incentive funds within the Sidoarjo Regional Tax Service Agency (BPPD), next week.

This reschedule is a follow-up to the absence of Ahmad Muhdlor Ali on the grounds of illness.

"The person concerned was not present and it is true that there was a confirmation letter after we checked with the correspondence department and the investigating team," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Friday, April 19.

The reason for Ahmad Muhdlor Ali's illness is evidenced by the presence of a doctor's certificate. In fact, the Sidoarjo Regent is currently undergoing treatment at the Sidoarjo Emergency General Hospital (RSUD), East Java.

However, the letter did not explain how long the regent had to undergo treatment at the hospital.

"Therefore, next week, we will call this suspect again to attend," he continued.

Regarding the time of the recall, Ali could not confirm yet. Later, investigators will determine it.

"Later on the time we will convey it back to our friends after we get definite information on the date when the call is to attend and has been sent or not," said Ali.

Previously, Gus Muhdlor's lawyer, Mustofa Abidin, stated that his client could not fulfill the summons for examination due to illness. His party has written to investigators to ask for a rescheduling of the collection of information against his client.

"This morning we submitted a letter requesting a postponement of the examination to the KPK," said Mustofa.

Ahmad Mudhlor Ali was originally named a suspect in the alleged extortion of employees within the Regional Tax Service Agency (BPPD).

In this case, the KPK had already charged the Head of the General Subdivision of Personnel of the BPPD Sidoarjo Siska Wati as a suspect through a hand arrest operation (OTT) which resulted in the discovery of Rp69.9 million.

Furthermore, investigators determined the Head of BPPD Sidoarjo Ari Suyono. Siska allegedly cut a total of around Rp. 2.7 billion since 2023.

The notification of the money cut is said to have been done verbally. Employees are also not allowed to discuss it via text message.
