Director Ahead Of Maghrib, Helfi Kardit Doesn't Accept His Film Being Boycotted For Qibla

JAKARTA - Film Director Ahead of Maghrib, Helfi Kardit spoke up regarding his film which was included in the list of films that were boycotted due to the recent controversy over the Kiblat film. Helfi through uploads on his Instagram story explained again the contents of the film story Ahead of Maghrib.

One of the scenes related to ODGJ that is expressed is mystical and magical beliefs that actually raises human rights (HAM).

"There is a film post Ahead of Maghrib that is included in a list of films that exploit religion, which he said is a religious expert. I don't really know this person, I explain this film Ahead of Maghrib about ODGJ being supported at home in mystical and tahaul beliefs. In fact, this film has social and human rights themes, a film about human rights that is converged by mystical and tahaul beliefs in the community," wrote Helfi Kardit as quoted by VOI from his personal Instagram, Wednesday, March 27.

Furthermore, he emphasized that the film Ahead of sunset is not a film related to religious culture, because he does not include prayer scenes that are disturbed by ghosts or demons.

"This film is about non-religious culture, in the film Ahead of Maghrib there is no prayer scene where demons or ghosts come, or read the holy verses of the Quran," he continued.

Finally, Helfi does not want to interfere in other films that are considered to have exploited religion. He said that all films that have been shown in theaters means that they have passed censorship based on the Film Censorship Institute (LSF)

"If other films that are considered religious exploitation, I don't want to comment on that, but if the film has already shown the cinema, it must have passed the censorship, in the censorship institution there is also a division that represents all religions," he wrote.

"This vision is to watch and assess whether this film violates religious rules or not. If it has been shown in theaters, it means that there are no problems with censorship institutions. Hopefully this will not become a wild ball that curbs filmmakers in ideas, works and conveys their vision," he concluded.

Even though it is no longer shown in theaters, the film Ahead of Maghrib still shows its spurs. This film is also showing on the Planet Horror streaming platform in Spain.

"Digital platform under the acquisition of AMC Network. The film Ahead of sunset will also be shown in Turkish cinemas on August 16 and again in the discussion stage with Saudi distributors and Thailand. If religious exploitation is impossible, this film is still in demand in countries where the majority of the population is Muslim," he said.
