MUI's Different Opinions On 2012 Films
JAKARTA - Uninhabitable earth narratives are often lifted to the big screen. Director of Kesohor, Roland Emmerich also did not want to be left behind. He was attracted to combine narratives of earth damage and predictions of the Maya Tribe regarding the world apocalypse to occur on December 12, 2012.
The film titled "2012 lahir". The film is selling well in the market. However, pros and cons related to 2012 appeared. In Indonesia, especially. The presence of flim made the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) divided. Something forbids it. There are also those who behave normally.
The matter of making predictions, the people of the past were the heroes. Narrative is not a mere empty message. Every ancient civilization like has its own predictions in predicting the future. The Mayans who come from Central America do not want to be left behind.
They are trying to predict the world apocalypse will occur on December 12, 2012. The forecast was actually not widely believed in the modern era. However, the Director of Kesohor Jaya Roland Emmerich had other thoughts.
The director who is famous for the film Independence Day (1996) and The Day After Tomorrow (2004) tried to 'borrow' the predictions of the Maya Tribe to be the background for his latest film: 2012. He tries to give an image of an Earth's story that is no longer habitable with disasters that come and go.
The apocalypse is depicted as being present in the lives of Jackson Curtis (John Cusack) and Kate (Amanda Peet). The two couples are divorced. Jackson is described as struggling to regain the love of his ex-wife and her two children.
Unfortunately, the plan was disrupted because the earth was so damaged that it began to present a variety of disasters in a fast time. Jackson and his family were then busy saving themselves. The Maya Tribe forecast formula is considered successful.
The concoction of past predictions and the power of special effects of destruction of the earth brought the film 2012 melejit. Even though the predictions of the Maya Tribe have been questioned by many scientists. On December 21, 2012, it was referred to as the final calendar of the Maya Tribe.
Alias, if you pass that date, the dating will return from scratch again. Roland Emmerich doesn't seem to care. Because, the film is able to achieve abundant profits. Many people have tried to watch it from the start of its broadcast on November 13, 2009. In fact, some of them are trying to prove that the apocalypse actually happened or not at the end of 2012.
Once a film that does not have a franchise, or does not come from the adaptation of a well-known novel that can provide extraordinary results. Even the 20142 film proves that a budget of 200 million US dollars can be transformed into a film that gets high income.
The film is able to give a perfect picture of its summer: eating large and delicious popcorn. Even though most of the movie reviews are negative. The film continues to be promoted. In fact, film owners don't have to bother looking for promotional ideas. They just need to fill out billboards with the caption: search: 2012. Because, that year's search is considered the most searched for in Google and issued answers regarding the 2012 end of the world, "explained Brooks Barnes in his article on The New York Times page entitled 2012 Opening Earns$65 Million(2019).
The presence of the 2012 film brings curiosity throughout the world. Many people are curious about how the apocalypse was described by Emmerich. They want to watch the 2012 film live. One by one the country then started playing the 20142 film.
Indonesia is one of them. However, the presence of the film received opposition. The MUI branches of Malang, Situbondo, and Banjarmasin became the most vocal. All three urged the film to stop its circulation. The illicit fatwa was issued to support that the 20142 film is dangerous for Muslims.
The illicit fatwa was presented because no human being can determine the day or the year of the end. All of this is the power of the Creator. The narrative that carries the predictions of the Maya Tribe is clearly considered heretical.

This condition even prompted MUI Situbondo to start raiding a series of internet stalls (warnets). The raid was carried out so that internet cafe visitors did not download 2012 films and were widely distributed. Problems arise.
The Central MUI and other MUI branches do not think the same. They think that the regional MUI is allowed to issue a fatwa. However, it would be better if the fatwa issue was discussed first with the Central MUI. The majority of scholars at the Central MUI also believe that the 2012 film does not need to be banned.
The film is considered an ordinary spectacle full of computer engineering and others. Regarding the apocalypse, which is the background for the film, there is no need to be a serious concern. Everything because the affairs of the apocalypse are only based on the imagination of filmmakers so that the spectacle shows are entertaining.
In particular, the rejection of the three MUI branches also seemed to be the reason the film became increasingly popular in Indonesia. Therefore, the film was able to invite the enthusiasm of many people to come to watch movies.
"Regarding when the apocalypse will occur, it is the power of the Creator. So, we must not determine the day or year. If that happens, it can be misleading," said the chairman of the MUI Malang Regency, KH Mahmud Zubaidi as quoted by Antara, November 20, 2009.
