Prabowo Subianto And Surya Paloh's Meeting Is Just Continuing The Trend Of Reconciliation

JAKARTA The fate of the Change Coalition that carried the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar pair has the potential to disperse after Surya Paloh met Prabowo Subianto, Friday (22/3/2024).

The pair Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka won the 2024 Presidential Election, as announced by the General Elections Commission, Wednesday (22/3/2024). KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari said the Prabowo-Gibran pair won 96,214,691 votes. This pair of number two outperformed the pair Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar who received 40,971,906 votes, while the pair Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md 27,040,878 received votes.

On the same day, Surya Paloh as Chairman of the Nasdem Party congratulated the Prabowo-Gibran pair as winners of the 2024 presidential election during a press conference at the Nasdem Party DPP office.

Chairman of the KPU Hasyim Asy'Ari together with the KPU commissioners sang the song Indonesia Raya before the plenary meeting to determine the results of the national level 2024 election vote acquisition at the KPU Building, Wednesday (20/3/2024). (Between)

The decision of Nasdem to accept the results of the 2024 General Election and congratulate the Prabowo-Gibran pair was responded to by Anies Baswedan. This number one presidential candidate affirms respect for any steps taken by other parties, even though he is still suing the results of the presidential election.

"So, we respect and respect. We also respect the steps taken by all other parties and hopefully later we will see better democracy," said Anies in Jakarta, Thursday (21/3).

Congratulations from Surya Paloh turned out to be welcomed by Prabowo, even though the two were in opposing camps during the 2024 presidential election yesterday. As a form of respect for Surya Paloh's congratulations, the Minister of Defense took the time to visit Surya Paloh's political party headquarters, Nasdem Tower, Jakarta, Friday (22/3).

"The match is good, competition is good, we need the competition, the people need choices. But, after the match, it's time for us to work together, work hand in hand to build our nation. That's what I think is important," Prabowo said at the meeting.

The meeting of the two certainly attracted attention, especially as known by Anies Baswedan together with Ganjar Pranowo, a presidential candidate from PDIP, has officially registered the lawsuit against the results of the 2024 presidential election with the Constitutional Court.

Prabowo Subianto's meeting with Surya Paloh made people wonder about the fate of the Coalition for the Future Change. According to the Executive Director of the Indonesia Political Opinion (IPO), a coalition of presidential elections is basically not permanent. Therefore, it is not impossible that later the Nasdem Party will join the government led by Prabowo.

"The Coalition for Change actually doesn't exist after the election, especially when they are decided to lose by the KPU calculation," said Dedi to VOI.

"This situation makes communication between Surya Paloh and Prabowo melt again, and allows for a new agreement, for example Nasdem to join Prabowo in government," he continued.

Contacted separately, Andriadi Achmad admitted that he was not surprised by the opportunity for reconciliation between Surya Paloh and Prabowo Subianto. According to Andriadi, this reconciliation is a positive culture created by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Prabowo after the 2019 presidential election. He also hopes that this trend will continue in the future.

Actually reconciliation is a positive thing to avoid polarization and fragmentation in the community. In the future, especially for supporters, each candidate should not overdo it in providing support, let alone fighting, because at the elite level today the opponent tomorrow could shake hands (friends)," Andriadi explained.

The meeting of Surya Paloh to Prabowo is commonplace. Gerindra and Nasdem were born from the same womb, namely Golkar. Not to mention the record since the 2014 Pilleg and Presidential Elections Nasdem were always in Jokowi's administration," he added.

The Change Coalition, which is filled with the Nasdem Party, the National Justice Party (PKB), and the Social Welfare Party (PKS) was initially believed to be the government's opposition, along with the PDI-P. But Prabowo's encounter with Surya Paloh seemed to bring about this possibility.

Regarding this, said Andriadi, in the context of the presidential democratic system in Indonesia there is actually no opposition, but it is more appropriate to be called 'out of government'.

"This means that the position of political parties outside the government needs to exist to maintain a check and balance in the life of the nation and state," said the lecturer at Al-Azhar University Indonesia.

Seeing the current situation, Andriadi predicted that PKB and PKS could also move closer to Prabowo. From the side of PKB and Gerindra so far there have been no significant problems, nor has PKS relations that have been close to Prabowo since the presidential election in the last two editions.

"This means that there is only one party that has a tendency to be outside the government, namely PDIP," he concluded.
