Village Head Asks For Peaceful Money After Police Arrested 13 Village Office Destroyers In West Kotawaringin

The West Kotawaringin Police Resort (Polres) arrested a village head with the initials JS, allegedly asking for Rp40 million from 13 people who destroyed the Runtu Village office.

"The case began with JS reporting that 13 people damaged the Runtu Village office to the South Serut Police and immediately followed up by making arrests. The results of the investigation showed that the 13 people who were reported by JS were proven to have committed destruction, so they have been named suspects," said West Kotawaringin Deputy Chief of Police Kompol Wihelmus Helky at Pangkalan Bun, West Kotawaringin, Central Kalimantan (Kalteng), Friday, March 8, confiscated by Antara.

After being named a suspect, he continued, the 13 people asked JS's brother to withdraw his report.

The request was approved by JS, provided that the 13 people provided compensation of Rp. 40 million. However, the 13 people were able to pay Rp. 30 million and JS still agreed and promised to withdraw the report from the South Arrea Police.

It turns out that the report that JS will withdraw from the 13 people has been transferred by the Sector Police to the Kobar District Attorney's Office, which will then be tried at the Kobar District Court. Finally, the 13 people were sentenced to one month in prison.

"For this reason, the 13 people also asked the suspect JS regarding his report. It turned out that the suspect did not withdraw his report, so they had to serve a period of detention," said Wihelmus.

After serving one month in detention, the victims asked for the money that had been handed back to JS's brother, but this JS did not return the money, so they reported this person to the Kobar Police.

The evidence confiscated by the police was a flash drive containing video recordings, a copy of the criminal decision of the Pangkalan Bun District Court and Rp30 million in cash.

"As a result, JS is subject to Article 378 of the Criminal Code and Article 372 of the Criminal Code, with a threat of four years in prison," said Wihelmus.
