Flash Flood Drags Medical Devices At Santa Anna Hospital Kendari, Health Services Forced To Temporarily Close

JAKARTA - Santa Anna Kendari Hospital in Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) has completely closed its services. Flash floods have hit the hospital area since Monday 4 March.

Flash floods in Kendari submerged Santa Anna Hospital along with the medical equipment contained in it. Even a number of medical devices that were dragged by the flood were damaged.

"Services are completely closed because many of the medical devices, especially those that are damaged by flooding, are temporarily closed," said the security forces at Santa Ana Hospital, Samsul, in Kendari, Friday, March 8, as reported by Antara.

Until this news was published, there was still no official statement from Santa Ana Hospital which was still busy cleaning up mud material in the area and medical equipment that could still be saved.

Flash floods hit most areas of Kendari City after heavy rains, including the residents of Lasolo hallway who were next to Santa Anna Hospital. The Lasolo area was affected by the worst flash floods in Kendari City.

Head of Rukun Tetangga (RT) 04 Rukun Warga (RW) Sanua Village, West Kendari District, Hj Hepu Hamid, admitted that the flood that occurred in the Lasolo alley this time was the worst of what had happened.

"So a total of 42 houses were affected by flash floods this time but for the number of residents I have not recorded it because conditions are still not as stable as they are today," said Hepi Hamid.

He hopes that the government can help in meeting the needs of affected residents for now, especially in terms of food and clothing.

"We hope that the government can move quickly to help, especially food because we are no longer able to cook all food ingredients washed away and dirty furniture and even damaged by the flood," he said.
