Movable Land Detected In Banjarwangi Garut, BPBD Checks The Need For Relocation Of Residents
GARUT - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) monitors moving land detected in residential areas of Banjarwangi District, Garut. Monitoring to find out the potential for the spread of the impact of disasters.
"To immediately shift to relatives' homes if the shift is massive," said Head of Emergency and Logistics Division of the Garut Regency BPBD, Daris Hilman, contacted via cell phone in Garut, Wednesday, March 6, as reported by Antara.
BPBD Garut has received reports of moving land in Kaso Village, Padahhurip Village, Banjarwangi District, since a few days ago.
His party then followed up on the report to determine policies related to the people in the area whether it needed to be relocated or not.
The current step, he said, is in the form of socialization and educating the public to evacuate immediately if the ground continues to occur, while emergency measures in the form of covering the cracks with mud.
"It has been educated to temporarily cover the fracture with mud," he said.
Head of the Banjarwangi Police, Iptu Amirudin Latif, said that his party was conducting patrols to check the area affected by moving land which caused the soil to crack, since a week ago.
The crackdown, he said, again occurred and spread in the village after heavy rains flushed the Garut area, Sunday, March 3, resulting in damage to houses and prayer rooms.
"As a result, residents' houses were cracked, tilted, and the residents' ponds receded, the affected residents were 16 families and the mushalla building," he said.

He said rain can trigger moving soil so that people must always be aware of the disaster, including by activating siskamling.
If it rains heavily, he said, residents whose houses are affected by the ground should immediately evacuate to a safe place, such as to their relatives' homes, to avoid the disaster.
"Currently, residents are still holding on except for heavy rains, sliding to their relatives," he said.
