Joko Anwar Rejects Filming Opportunities In Los Angeles For The Sake Of Saksa Kubur Film
JAKARTA - Director Joko Anwar revealed that he canceled a film project that required him to shoot in Los Angeles, United States in 2023. Not without reason, the Director of the film Pengabdi Setan said that he was doing this to work on the film Saksa Kubur which had been a dream project since he was a child.
"I was supposed to shoot in LA in 2023, shooting a Hollywood film. I just said this film really depends on me, and they know that Saksa Kubur is a path project that I want to tell you," said Joko Anwar in the Kemang area, South Jakarta, Monday, March 4.
"I was taught from a young age about your grave and couldn't be removed, it was one of the things that was very attached to me. Finally, I decided to reject the project in Hollywood to shoot at the grave torture," he continued.
Having a unanimous determination to work on the film Saksa Kubur made Joko Anwar only need time last night to decide to reject the project offer abroad.
Moreover, the film Saksa Kubur is the 10th Joko film where he also wants to make his tenth film is a meaningful and unforgettable film even though the payment for foreign film projects is greater.

"One night (to turn down the offer), after my friend said that Tia's producer had collaborated with me, already from 2004, he said 'bang this is the 10th film you know you always say the 10th film is the most meaningful' film," he explained.
"It was true that at that time there was a Hollywood film that was shooting well, the payment was also really good, but yes, the film wasn't something I wanted to do from a long time ago, so it's okay to refuse," he concluded.
