The Oceanic Ship Transports 23 Burnt Tourists In Raja Ampat Waters

PAPUA - The Oceanik tour boat carrying 23 tourists reportedly caught fire in the waters of Aborek and Mansuar Island Raja Ampat, Southwest Papua, Friday, March 1 at noon at around 13.15 WIT.Head of the National SAR Agency (Basarnas) Sorong Amirudin AS said 10 passengers were foreign tourists. Information about the ship's fire began with a report by an employee of the Sorong Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG)."The finance type cruise ship is carrying 23 tourists, with details of 10 foreign passengers, 5 Indonesian passengers and 8 crew members," Amirudin explained when contacted from Teminabuan, West Papua, Friday evening.Until now, Basarnas Sorong does not know for sure the cause of the cruise ship's fire.The Raja Ampat and local Syabandar Resort Police are reportedly still investigating the incident.However, from the temporary report received by Basarnas Sorong, it is known that the fire came from the engine room of the ship.The 23 passengers on the ship have been evacuated to the nearest island, namely Mansuar Island, Raja Ampat. Meanwhile, the Oceanik phinisi ship has been evacuated to the outskirts of the island.
