Anies Doesn't Want To Think About The Opportunity To Advance Again In The DKI Gubernatorial Election If He Loses The Presidential Election
Presidential candidate number 1 Anies Baswedan admitted that he had not thought about the next steps to be taken if he did not win the 2024 presidential election with his vice presidential candidate, Muhaimin Iskandar.Anies said he was still focused on overseeing the process of calculating and recapitulating the votes for the 2024 presidential election. This was emphasized by Anies when asked about the possibility to run again in the 2024 gubernatorial and deputy governor elections in the DKI Jakarta province."We are currently focusing on completing the calculation. We will focus on it and this change movement will continue to be part of us," said Anies in Sunter Agung, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, Friday, March 1.Anies sees that he does not need to follow the flow where a number of figures or politicians have started to enter the DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election market which will be held next November. The former governor of DKI Jakarta claims that many of his supporters still hope that the presidential and vice presidential candidates of the Coalition for this change can be elected as President and Vice President in 2024."So, now we don't have to look right and left. We are now focusing on completing the struggle and this is the mandate of millions of people. We will continue to fight for it until changes can be made," he explained. For information, the calculation of the 2024 General Election vote by the General Election Commission (KPU) is still ongoing. In the official website of the KPU which contains the results of a real count with a progress of 77.93 percent, the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair number 2 Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka is still superior with 58.83 percent of the votes.Meanwhile, presidential and vice presidential candidates number 1 Anies-Muhaimin received 24.49 percent of the votes, as well as presidential and vice-presidential candidates number 3 Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD in third place with 16.68 percent.
There is a view that Anies, if he loses the 2024 presidential election, will take the opportunity to run as a candidate for governor of DKI in the next regional election. Given that Anies has 5 years of capital to lead the capital city, and is still allowed to run as an incumbent candidate according to the law.
