Involve Children During Campaign, Nasdem Candidate Sentenced To 6 Months In Prison After Appealing

JAKARTA Evidenced to invite a campaign underage, Nasdem Party Legislative Candidate Muhammad Abdullah received a 6-month prison sentence from the Central Java High Court. The decision was made after Muhammad Abdullah filed an appeal.

The verdict read out by the panel of judges in an appeal hearing chaired by the Chief Justice of Appeal, Prim Fahrur Razi, Wednesday, February 7, turned out to be heavier than the previous sentence which was only 3 months in prison.

"The defendant Muhamad Abdullah was sentenced to 6 months in prison, with the condition that the defendant did not need to serve the sentence, except within 1 year during the Defendant's probation with the judge's decision having committed a criminal offense that could be convicted," said the Panel of Judges.

The defendant Muhammad Abdullah was legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing a criminal act of election campaign involving Indonesian citizens who do not have the right to vote.

"Imposing a fine to the defendant in the amount of Rp. 12 million, provided that if the fine is not paid, the defendant will be sentenced to imprisonment for 2 months," continued the Panel of Judges.

For information, Muhammad Abdullah, who is a candidate for the Nasdem Party, Purworejo, was reported after a video of a boy campaigning went viral on social media.
