The Most Wanted Motorcycle Thief Gang In Sukabumi Was Finally Arrested

The Sukabumi City Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) managed to apprehend the most wanted motor vehicle theft syndicate, because it has carried out its actions in various areas both City and Sukabumi Regency, West Java.

"From the results of the disclosure of the motor vehicle theft case by the Sukabumi City Police Sattanras Satreskrim team, five suspects were arrested in three different locations in the Sukabumi Regency area," said Sukabumi City Police Chief AKBP Ari Setyawan Wibowo, Antara, Thursday 8 February.

The suspects have the initials E (37) and S (21). Both were arrested in Nagrak Village, Cisaat District on Sunday (27/1). Then D (48) and A (53) were arrested in the Jampangtengah District and H (31) was arrested in the Gegerbitung District on Monday, January 28.

According to Ari, the results of the investigation revealed that they had their respective roles where E and S served as motorcycle pickers while D, A and H acted as location monitors and marketed the stolen motorbikes.

The five are on the list of the most wanted people for having committed theft at 50 crime scenes (TKP), even in carrying out their actions E and S only took less than three minutes to get away with the victim's motorbike.

In addition to arresting the suspects, the police managed to secure evidence of 20 motorbikes of various types stolen by suspects in various areas in Sukabumi. Not only that, from the hands of the suspect, a letter T key unit was also confiscated which was used to break into motorcycle contacts and five cell phones.

In carrying out the action, the suspect first mapped and monitored the condition of the motorbike that was parked without any supervision from the owner. After feeling safe, one of the suspects then broke into the ignition key and immediately took away the victim's motorbike.

"They carried out random theft by targeting motorbikes parked in quiet places without anyone watching. The action was fairly seasoned because it only took less than three minutes for them to get away with the motorbike they were after," he said.

Ari said he was still developing this case to reveal 30 other motorbikes that were allegedly sold to collectors and it was hoped that all motorcycles stolen by the suspect could be returned to their owners for free.

As a result of his actions, the five suspects were charged with Article 363 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code concerning theft by Weighting the threat of imprisonment for nine years and Article 481 of the Criminal Code concerning making it a habit to deliberately buy goods obtained from crimes with the threat of imprisonment for seven years.

He appealed to residents to be more vigilant when storing or parking motorbikes, then it would be better if the vehicle had double safety equipment so that it was not easy to steal and install a global positioning system (GPS).
