Mahfud MD Promises To Eradicate Palm Oil Mafia Immunity In Riau

PEKANBARU - Vice Presidential Candidate Mahfud MD in his political oration in Pekanbaru City, Riau, promised to eradicate the palm oil mafia which is suspected of being above the law because it was arrested by the authorities.

According to him, the existence of this mafia creates economic and social inequality in the community so as to increase the poverty rate in Riau.

"There is an imbalance in oil palm ownership, there is oil palm land that is annexed by the private sector, there is oil palm land that is colluded with the authorities so that the mafias are immune, this must be treated by both the officers who are backing up at the center and in the regions," said Mahfud MD as reported by ANTARA, Monday, January 29.

He said, Riau has an abundant natural wealth, including the ownership of a palm oil area of three million hectares. If my potential natural source is fully utilized for the benefit of the community, it can alleviate poverty.

"In Riau, we have three million hectares of palm oil, if it is used for people's lives, poverty will be much reduced," he said.

If Ganjar-Mahfud MD is elected to win a political contest later, this rogue palm oil mafia will be dealt with firmly.

"Why do we need law enforcement and justice, the answer is so far blunt law, corruption is rampant, so it is necessary to cure governance more clean and dignified," he said.

In addition, Mahfud MD also promised to improve road infrastructure in Riau to rural areas. In front of his supporters, he also promised free internet in public places for the public and school children.
