X To Build A New Office In Texas, Focuses On Child Sexual Exploitation Content Moderation
JAKARTA - Platform X is rumored to be opening its new office in Austin, Texas. Recruiting 100 permanent employees, the team will focus on content moderation and stopping the spread of sexual exploitation material against children (CSE).
"X doesn't have a children-focused business line, but it's important for us to make this investment to continue to stop violators from using our platform for any distribution or involvement with CSE content," X's head of business operations, Joe Benarroch told Bloomberg, quoted via Engadget.
Not only that, but Benarroch added that the new team will also address other content problems, such as hate speech and violent posts.
Previously, X CEO Linda Yaccarino had said before Congress in a hearing about CSE that they were determined to make X unfriendly to actors trying to exploit minors.
On X, we do not tolerate Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE), and we are determined to make X unfriendly to perpetrators who want to exploit minors. In 2023, we made it clear that our top priority is to deal with online CSE," Linda said in the blog X.

In 2024, X is committed to continuing to share detailed updates on the company's investments in this area. This includes improving detection mechanisms to find more content that can be reported on the platform to be reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
"In addition, we are also building a center of Trust and Security excellence in Austin, Texas, to hire more internal agents so we can continue to accelerate the impact," said Linda.
