BMW Manufacturing Will Use Humanoid Robots For Automotive Production
JAKARTA - Figure, a humanoid robot development company, announced that it had signed a cooperation contract with BMW Manufacturing on Thursday, January 18.
Through the commercial agreement, BMW Manufacturing will use the humanoid robot made by Figure in automotive production. These robots will perform difficult and unsafe manufacturing tasks for humans.
Using a humanoid robot called Figure 01, a BMW Manufacturing employee can be placed in a safer field. This robot will not replace the human role completely because there is still work that cannot be completed by robots.
"The Figue Robot will allow companies to increase productivity, reduce costs, and create a safer and more consistent environment," Founder and CEO of Figure Brett Adcock said in an official statement.
Before placing Figure 01 in BMW Manufacturing, Figure will identify the robot's performance in automotive production. After making sure Figure 01 works well, the robot will be placed in a BMW manufacturing facility inwahburg.

Figure did not specify how many robots would be sent to the facility. However, the company told Reuters it would deliver fewer quantities in advance until the performance targets were met.
Meanwhile, BMW Manufacturing realized that the automotive industry continues to grow rapidly. Therefore, they want to integrate innovative technologies into their production.
The all-in-one robotic solution has the potential to make productivity more efficient, to support our growing consumer demand, and to allow our team to focus on the transformation that lies ahead of us, said BMW Manufacturing CEO Robert Engelhorn.
