Iran Claims Sharing Information With Baghdad About Attacks On Mossad Headquarters In Kurdish Region

JAKARTA - Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said Tehran shared intelligence information with Baghdad about what it said was the activity of Israel's Mossad intelligence agency in Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdish region.

Iran said its Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) attacked Israel's "spy headquarters" in Iraq in the city of Erbil on Monday. Iraq later denied that there was such a spy center in the country.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian also said his country's armed forces targeted "Iran terrorist groups" in Pakistan the day before, after Islamabad said the attack killed two children.

"In Pakistan, no Pakistani citizens are friendly and brothers are targeted by Iranian missiles and drones," Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian said.

"The group, called Jaish al-Adl, which is an Iranian terrorist group, was targeted," he added.

As previously reported, at least four civilians were killed and six others injured in the IRGC attack on Erbil on Monday, the Kurdistan Regional Security Council said on Tuesday.

Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) on Monday launched a ballistic missile into what it calls a spy base for Israel's intelligence agency Mossad in northern Iraq, and to an "anti-Iran terror group" in Syria, increasing tensions in the Middle East region.

Iranian forces said the midnight missile strike in Iraq destroyed Israel's "one of the main espionage bases" in Erbil, the capital of the semi-autonomous Kurdistan region, in response to an Israeli attack that killed one of the senior IRGC commanders.

"This large headquarters has been the center for the development of espionage operations and planning terrorist acts" in the region and Iran, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement on Monday.

The IRGC also said it attacked several locations in Erbil and claimed to be targeting "the site of Iran's opposition group."

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein on Tuesday denied any center of facilities affiliated with Israel's intelligence agency, Mossad, operating in Erbil, Iraq's Kurdistan region.

Foreign Minister Hussein's denial comes after the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched attacks on several targets in Erbil, targeting what they say is a spy headquarters and anti-Iran terrorist groups.
