Floods In 11 Villages Of Landak Regency, West Kalimantan Start To Recede
The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of West Kalimantan said that the flood conditions in Landak Regency are currently receding and assistance for affected communities has been distributed."The flood conditions in Landak Regency have begun to recede. The water level varies," said Head of the West Kalimantan BPBD Information Task Force Daniel in Pontianak, quoted from Antara, Friday, January 12.He said floods in Landak Regency occurred in five sub-districts, namely Ngabang, Kuala Bahe, Meranti, Air Besar, and Menuke.Floods since Sunday, January 7 covered 11 villages in five sub-districts with a total of 6,692 families and 6,692 houses affected, while six families or 18 people fled to safe places.Regarding assistance for residents affected by the flood, he said, it had been distributed. Assistance comes from the Landak Regency Government and the West Kalimantan Provincial Government."The assistance distributed ranges from food to blankets, mattresses and others. For assistance from West Kalimantan Province, it is through the Social Service and the Food Security Service," he said.He said the floods also occurred in Bengkayang and Kapuas Hulu Regencies.He invited the person in charge in the community, such as RT/RW, kelurahan/village, sub-districts and district/city governments to proactively collect data on disaster-prone points in their respective environments. His party continues to monitor natural disasters, both for prevention and handling.
"From the beginning of January 2023, three districts have been affected by flooding in West Kalimantan. Some areas have receded. We continue to urge the public to be aware of floods, tornadoes, and landslides," he said.
