Joint Leave 2021 Officially Trimmed, From 7 Days To 2 Days

JAKARTA - The government has agreed and stipulated changes of joint leave in 2021. Joint leave in 2021 is reduced by five days from the previous seven days.

This agreement was made at a meeting of the relevant ministries at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK), Monday, February 22.

This meeting was led by the Coordinating Minister for PMK Muhadjir Effendy, and attended by Minister of PAN RB Tjahjo Kumolo, Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Religion Nizar Ali, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Manpower, Assistant Chief of Police and Echelon 1 K/L officials concerned.

"In the previous Joint Decree (SKB) there were 7 days of joint leave. After reviewing the SKB, joint leave was reduced from 7 days to only 2 days," said Coordinating Minister for PMK Muhadjir Effendy in a Coordination Meeting at the Coordinating Ministry for PMK, Monday, February 22nd.

As for the joint leave in 2021 which was cut by 5 days, namely March 12: Joint leave in term of Isra Miraj Prophet Muhammad SAW; 17, 18, 19 May: Joint Leave in term of Eid Al-Fitr 1442 Hijriah, and 27 December: Joint Leave in term of Christmas 2021.

Meanwhile, the fixed joint leave is on May 12 in term of Idul Fitri 1442 Hijriah, and December 24 in term of Christmas 2021. Considerations why it is still given one day before Eid Al-Fitr and one day before Christmas, to make it easier for the Police to manage the public movement.

"Do not let the accumulation occur on one day and it will be dangerous," added Muhadjir.

Furthermore, the Coordinating Minister for PMK explained several reasons for reducing holidays, namely the curve of increasing COVID-19 had not sloped even though various efforts had been made. After the long holiday, there is a tendency for Covid 19 cases to increase. People's mobility tends to increase. Meanwhile, the vaccination program is running.

"Therefore, the government needs to review the joint leave which has the potential to encourage the movement of people so that transmission increases," he said.

The government also continues to urge people to implement the 5M health protocol and work together to break the chain of transmission of Covid-19.

"Once again it is emphasized that the year 2021 Joint Leave is cut by 5 days from the existing 7 days," concluded the Coordinating Minister for PMK.
