Defense Minister Says Israel Faces Attacks from Seven Regions, IDF Commander: We Are Ready to Take Necessary Actions
JAKARTA - Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said his country was currently facing attacks from seven regions, while the country's military commander confirmed they were ready to take the necessary actions to defend the country.
Speaking before the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee in the Israeli Parliament, Minister of Defense Gallant warned of a long struggle in the country.
Not only that, Minister of Defense Gallant also said that Israel was in a multi-arena war, where they were being attacked from seven regions.
"We are in a multi-arena war, we are being attacked from seven different sectors: Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, Judea and Samaria (another name for the West Bank), Iraq, Yemen, and Iran," explained Defense Minister Gallant, reported by CNN, December 27.
"We have responded and acted in six regions and I say here in the most explicit way, anyone who acts against us is a potential target, there is no immunity for anyone," he warned.
Gallant's comments follow statements by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who said the war was far from over, after he visited the Gaza Strip on Monday.
Furthermore, Minister of Defense Gallant said the war in Gaza would be "a long and difficult war. This will require large costs.
"Without achieving the war objectives, we will be in a situation where, the problem is that people will not want to live in places where we do not know how to protect them," he explained to the committee, as reported by The Times of Israel.
Separately, Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi said his party was collaborating with security organizations throughout the Middle East, working in and around the borders, although he was reluctant to comment on the actions taken.
This was said after being asked about reports of an Israeli attack that killed a senior adviser to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in Syria.
An Israeli airstrike outside the Syrian capital Damascus on Monday killed a senior adviser in Iran's Revolutionary Guard, three security sources and Iranian state media said.

"I will not comment on the various actions we are taking. The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) is working with other security organizations throughout the Middle East, within state borders, around state borders," said Lt. Gen. Halevi, quoted by Reuters.
"We are taking whatever action is necessary, to make it clear that we are very determined to defend the country, willing to go even further," he stressed.
It is known that the dead Iranian Revolutionary Guard adviser, known as Sayyed Razi Mousavi, was responsible for coordinating the military alliance between Syria and Iran. The Revolutionary Guards said Israel would suffer for killing Mousavi, who held the rank of brigadier general of the Revolutionary Guards.
