TDK Corp Will Produce Lithium-ion Battery Cells for Apple iPhones in India
JAKARTA - The Japanese electronic components manufacturing company, TDK Corp, is reported to be producing lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery cells for Apple's iPhone in India. This was stated by India's Deputy Minister of Information Technology, Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Monday, December 4.
Apple has announced India as its next big growth driver, with the aim of moving some production from China. iPhone assembly in India began in 2017 through Wistron and later Foxconn, with a total of 14 suppliers in India.

"TDK will set up a manufacturing facility in the northern state of Haryana, creating thousands of new jobs," Rajeev Chandrasekhar said on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. This news was first reported by Business Standard on Sunday, December 3.
Cells produced at the facility will be supplied to Apple Li-ion battery assembler Sunwoda Electronics, the report added. Apple and TDK Corp did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment.
