Vice President Talks About Indonesian Palm Oil Discrimination When Meeting President Of Slovakia
SLOVAKIA - Vice President (Wapres) Ma'ruf Amin in a meeting with Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová conveyed the European Union (EU) policy which discriminates against exports of Indonesian palm oil products.
"I also said that earlier, because I will continue to fight because it still needs to be understood, because I said that it causes our farmers to become victims because of this discriminatory policy," said Vice President Ma'ruf Amin after a meeting with Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová, in Presidential Palace, Bratislava, Slovakia, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, November 27.
Ma'ruf explained that EU discrimination which hampers Indonesian palm oil exports has harmed farmers. The Vice President said that Indonesia also continues to adopt environmentally friendly economic policies, so it is not appropriate to assume that Indonesian palm oil is produced from activities that damage the environment.
According to Ma'ruf, Slovakia has not responded to Indonesia's aspirations regarding discriminatory EU palm oil policies.
Before meeting with the President of Slovakia, Ma'ruf also had a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of Slovakia Denisa Sakova.

However, said Ma'ruf, both the President and Deputy PM of Slovakia have not responded to Indonesia's protest over palm oil discrimination.
"Didn't respond to that question as well," said Ma'ruf.
Ma'ruf said the Indonesian government still had to continue to struggle to convince European countries regarding the safety of Indonesian palm oil products.
"The European Union consensus has not been changed, it looks like it still has to be fought for," said Ma'ruf Amin.
