Ayatollah Khomeini Juluki Amerika Serikat Sebagai The Great Satan Dalam Sejarah Hari Ini, 5 November 1979
JAKARTA History today, 44 years ago, November 5, 1979, the great leader of Iran, Ayatollah Sayyid Ruhollah Musavi Khomeini gave the nickname to the United States (US) as The Great Satan (Setan Besar). He gave the nickname because the US considered him a sponsor of corruption around the world.
Previously, Khomeini was the architect of the Iranian Revolution. The charismatic cleric was able to move the whole of Iran against Iran's ruler, Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi. Khomeini does not want Iran to be likened to Reza and the US.
Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi's leadership was questioned by many parties in 1960. His program for the White Revolution was considered too far-fetched. From free education to eradicating corruption. It may be that all narratives of the White Revolution are considered revolutionary.
The reality on the ground is different. The program had a bad impact on the small people. The White Revolution actually gave rise to social inequality between the rich and the poor. The protest Gelora was then rolled out. The communists became one of the loudest to speak.
Reza did not remain silent. Instead of hearing criticism, he actually tried to silence those who perpetuate criticism with prison sentences. However, unexpectedly the ulama also moved. Alim Muslim clerics began to feel that Reza's leadership had many disadvantages, rather than benefits.
Ayatollah Khomeini, for example. He is a cleric who opposes the power to the west-west of Syah Reza. He chose to be Syah Reza's opposition. Criticism continues. Even though the consequences are so heavy.
Khomeini also made a choice. He chose to be expelled rather than justify what Reza did. The expulsion made Khomeini sympathizers increase. Khomeini did not remain silent. He tries to move around the country to be able to continue to burn the spirit of the whole of Iran.
Ulam's beloved pinnacle arrives. The Iranian revolution erupted in 1979. The result was brilliant. The revolution turned Iran from Monarki into an Islamic Republic led by Khomeini.
Since the early 1960s he has appeared as an opposition figure for Mohammad Reza Pahlevi who is brandishing Iran. Expel him from Iran. Titah Reza in 1964. So, Khomeini along with a number of followers left for Turkey. But there he did not move. He had to face the secularized giant wave. A year later, Khomeini built a command headquarters in Najaf, Iraq.
Avoiding being brushed off by SAVAK agents (Iran Secret Service), October 1978 Khomeini fled to the village of Neauphle-le-Chateau, on the outskirts of Paris, France. There he diligently printed brochures, political pamphlets, recorded his voice in cassettes, then sent to Iran to become a source of enthusiasm and inspiration for the people to overthrow Reza's regime," Praginanto explained in his writing in Tempo Magazine entitled The Imam Has Gone (1989).
The victory of Khomeini and the Iranian people was greeted with great fanfare. However, his attitude towards the US, which incidentally allies of Reza, has never changed. He often said that the US was the culprit of Iran's chaos, then the world. Moreover, the US is called the estuary of the many corruptions in the world.

Khomeini even dubbed the US as The Great Satan on November 5, 1979. The nickname is considered by Khomeini as the most appropriate narrative depicting the US. Uncle Sam's country often interferes in foreign politics of other countries and of course the US is getting worse with its image because it supports the occupation of Israel on Palestinian soil.
"Ayatollah Khomeini has repeatedly used hatred against the United States", he calls it the Great Devils to increase support for his revolution, amid signs of growing internal disputes over the continued hostage-taking of the American Embassy. Another anti-US Ayatollah motif is his vision of spreading fundamentalist revolutions throughout the Islamic world, "wrote in a report by The New York Times newspaper, June 5, 1989.
