Central PWI Management Certificate, Hendry Ch Bangun Launches Red And White PWI
JAKARTA - The chairman of the Central PWI, Hendry Ch Bangun, believes that the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) is a professional journalist organization with a national perspective. The history of the formation of PWI in 1946 reflects that as a PWI organization, it prioritizes its confinement of national issues compared to technical issues related to its profession.
This was conveyed by Hendry Ch Bangun at the handover ceremony (Sertijab) of the Central PWI Management for the period 2018-2023 with the general chairman Atal S Depari to the new Central PWI management, for the 2013-2028 period under the leadership of Hendry Ch Bangun at the Press Council Building, Jakarta, October 20. Present on that occasion, among others, the Secretary General and Deputy Secretary General of the Central PWI, Sayid Iskandar and Raja Pane as well as administrators and members of the PWI Honorary Council.
Hendry Ch Bangun was elected as the General Chair of PWI at the PWI XXV Congress in Bandung, West Java on September 27, 2023. In his management period, Hendry promised to focus on education to improve journalist professionalism.
In addition to having qualified competence, journalists from PWI are required to have national insight in carrying out their professions. Because that is the identity of PWI and what distinguishes PWI from other journalist organizations.
Therefore, the management of the Central PWI for the period 2023-2028 will refresh the values of their struggle by returning to the PWI khittah in 1946. At that time, Indonesian journalists also fought against the return of the invaders to our homeland.
It is said, the value of the 1998 PWI Khittah struggle is still very relevant to answer PWI's challenges as well as the current and future national issues. Awareness of the importance of maintaining Indonesian unity and integrity as a diverse country is very important. Call it the spirit of 'PWI Merah Putih'.

"I imagine that in the management of PWI for the next 2023 to 2028 period there will be around 1,000 to 5,000 journalists who can take short courses at Lemhannas RI. We have explored cooperation with Lemhannas," said Hendry Ch Bangun.
The momentum of national insight will also be followed by the development of physical infrastructure, in the form of the construction of the Pancasila Press Grha Building in Yogyakarta. Yogyakarta Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X supports the plan, including other stakeholders in the area.
