The Name Jakarta Post-IKN Is Not Necessarily A DKJ, Heru Budi: Can Be A Special Area For Jakarta's Economy
JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono said the government has other options for naming Jakarta after the move of the State Capital (IKN) to Nusantara, East Kalimantan.
Heru said, in addition to naming the Jakarta Special Region, changing the name of Jakarta could become a Special Area for Jakarta's Economy.
This was revealed by Heru in the Sepap Episode 15 Coffee Podcast with the topic Towards Jakarta Global City which was broadcast virtually on the DKI Jakarta Provincial BPKD YouTube account.
"It is possible that DKI Jakarta could later become a Special Area for Jakarta or also a Special Economic Area for Jakarta. Later, it will depend on the discussion at the central level of the DPR RI and the Ministry of Home Affairs," Heru said on Thursday, October 12.
To ASNs within the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, Heru asked them to understand the direction of Jakarta's development after it was no longer the capital city. President Joko Widodo, he continued, wants Jakarta to become a city of business, finance, trade, and service centers.
Then, Jakarta will also become a barometer city at the inflation level in Indonesia. For this reason, Heru asked his staff to maintain investment growth, infrastructure, and transportation development.
"How to protect it? Yes, we DKI officials direct Jakarta to a global city. The goal is to assess the rankings of cities in the world. It is considered that residents are comfortable or not living in a city? The infrastructure is considered complete or not? The green open space is growing, right? The investment is maintained or growing," explained Heru.
"The economic influence on Indonesia is how it is. Well, this is all already in Jakarta. We just have to take care of that," he added.
Previously in the Jakarta Special Region Bill (RUU) meeting at the Merdeka Palace, Tuesday, September 12, the name DKI Jakarta would be changed to DKJ after the capital city officially moved to IKN.
The name change as stated in Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning the State Capital (IKN), which when referring to the Law, Jakarta's status will change from what was previously DKI to DKI.
