Gorontalo Police Chief Guarantees There Is No Prohibition Of Selling Gold In Pohuwato

POHUWATO - Gorontalo Police Chief Inspector General Angesta Romano Yoyol guarantees that there will be no ban on the sale of gold in Marisa District, Pohuwato Regency, Gorontalo.

The statement was made by the Kapolda in response to the aspirations that came from a number of Pohuwato figures at the Forkopimda meeting held in Pohuwato Regency.

"I have said earlier, that please sell gold at the gold shop that has been running so far," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 26.

It was emphasized that there were no arrests and prohibitions on traditional gold sales in Pohuwato.

In the meeting session, former Regent Pohuwato Syarief Mbuinga expressed his complaint that miners had difficulty selling their gold at a gold shop in Marisa. There are rumors circulating that shop owners are prohibited from buying gold belonging to local miners.

"I'm concerned that they brought gold in small quantities, they didn't know where it was sold. We don't want to look for scapegoats but we want to find the best solution," said Syarief.

The same thing was expressed by Sence Kadji, a representative of a local female figure who also serves as a member of the Gorontalo Provincial DPRD. He assessed that the residents are currently in difficult condition. Farming land dried up, fishermen find it difficult to go to sea because of the waves coupled with gold mining results that are difficult to sell.

"There are even those who bring two grams of gold he exchanges for rice. Try sir, pity the people," said Sence.

Kapolda guarantees that the issue is not true. He invited miners who felt they could not sell their gold to report it to him. The Kapolda will be in Pohuwato for the next few days until the regional situation is conducive.
