What Is The Task Of The BUMN Karya Working Committee Proposed To Establish It By Commission VI Of The DPR
YOGYAKARTA - Intan Fauzi, a member of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, has encouraged the formation of the Working Committee of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN Working Committee) Karya which focuses on handling the construction sector. This step was taken in line with the emergence of a number of cases of alleged corruption at BUMN Karya. So what is the task of the BUMN Karya Working Committee?
"The performance of BUMN Karya is a necessity because this BUMN Karya bears a big responsibility in building infrastructure from Sabang to Merauke," said Intan Fauzi in a written statement in Jakarta.
Intan Fauzi also said that BUMN Karya received large funding so that it needed to be monitored so that it could be distributed properly and not misused. Thus, BUMN Karya can realize President Jokowi's ideals in connecting between regions through infrastructure.
The proposal for the formation of the BUMN Karya Panja is related to the emergence of a number of alleged corruption cases within the state-owned company. The formation of the Panja is expected to overcome and prevent the parties involved in the case.
Intan Fauzi said that Commission VI of the DPR RI had received complaints from the public. In this case, contractors who are members of the Istaka Karya BUMN Victims Association on June 13, 2023 complained about debts that have not been paid by SOEs for more than 10 years.
The BUMN Karya performance is not only expected to unravel the'shuffled clash' in the misuse of the BUMN Karya budget. The BUMN Working Committee was also formed to be able to improve corporate governance (GCG), so that transparency, accountability, responsibility, independence, and fairness in the BUMN Karya company.
"The BUMN Work is part of the duties and functions of the DPR in supervising government work. The estuary is the same, all for the welfare of the people without exception," said Intan Fauzi.
Intan Fauzi also mentioned the government's agreement with the DPR RI to increase the disbursement of funds for BUMN Karya through state capital participation (PMN) in the 2024 State Revenue and Expenditure Budget Draft (RAPBN). Additional capital for the BUMN amounted to Rp30.7 trillion.
The amount of the budget for these funds has increased by Rp12.1 trillion from the previous Rp18.6 trillion in the 2024 RAPBN. The additional funds were earmarked for state-owned companies, namely PT Hutama Karya (Persero) amounting to Rp6.1 trillion and PT Wijaya Karya (Persero).
Previously, SOE Minister Erick Thohir had encouraged Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives to deal with problems at BUMN Karya. Through a meeting with Commission VI recently, Erick Thohir said that his party was carrying out the restructuring of BUMN Karya. The restructuring is said to be completed in the next 2 years to 3 years.
Erick Thohir also changed the scheme of providing funds as a concrete step. The government will distribute funds directly to vendors, not through state-owned companies. This step is taken so that vendors who have not been paid can get their rights.
"If there is vendor corruption, then we will imprison the SOE leaders," said Erick Thohir firmly.
