Tuesday 29 August, Jokowi Visits Pekalongan To Open The 2023 Sufi Congress
JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and First Lady Iriana Jokowi left a working visit to Pekalongan, Central Java, one of whose agendas was to open the 2023 International Sufi Congress.
Using a special ATR 72-500 aircraft, President Jokowi and his entourage took off from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta to Cakrabhuwana Airport in Cirebon, West Java, according to a statement from the Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat received in Jakarta.
It seemed to welcome the arrival of President Jokowi and Iriana at Cakrabhuwana Airport, namely Deputy Governor of West Java Uu Ruzhanul Ulum, Pangdam III/Siliwangi Major General TNI Kunto Arief Wibowo and his wife, West Java Police Chief Inspector General Pol. Akhmad Wiyagus and his wife, Deputy Mayor of Cirebon Eti Herawati, and Danlanud Sugiri Sukarni Lt. Col. Pnb. Supardo Butarbutar and his wife.
From Cirebon City, President Jokowi will head to Pekalongan City by using a series of vehicles. In Pekalongan City, President Jokowi will inaugurate the Opening of the International Sufi Congress in 2023 which will be held at the Sahid International Convention Center.
The International Sufi Congress, which will be held from August 29 to 31, 2023, will be attended by ulama and university rectors from 64 countries. The Indonesian Ministry of Defense, as one of the committees, has been ordered by President Jokowi to coordinate with other ministries so that the International Sufi Congress can run successfully.
Quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 29, Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto explained that the 2023 International Sufi Congress raised the theme "Karya Sufi Contemporarer in a Dynamical World", which will discuss four fields, namely sufi education and its influence on soul assassination, economy and sustainable development, media industry and public opinion, as well as the important role of tasawuf in developing humans and developing civilization.

In Pekalongan, President Jokowi will visit Grogolan Market to review and at the same time hand over a number of social assistance to market traders and street vendors. President Jokowi is planned to spend the night in Semarang City and continue his working visit tomorrow Wednesday.
Also accompanying President Jokowi and Mrs. Iriana on a flight to Cirebon City, including Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Presidential Military Secretary Admiral TNI Hersan, Paspampres Commander Major General TNI Rafael Granada Baay, and Presidential Special Staff Ari Dwipayana.
