Remember! Elementary-Junior School Principals In Public Schools In Kupang, NTT Are Not Allowed To Collect Fees From New Students

KUPANG - The Education and Culture Office of Kupang City reminded the heads of public elementary and junior high schools in the area not to charge fees from new students in the 2023/2024 Academic Year Admission of New Students (PPDB).

"We have reminded all school principals starting from elementary-junior high school not to charge any fees for students in this year's PPDB activities. There are no fees for new students," said Okto Naitboho, head of the Basic Development Division at the Kupang City Education and Culture Office in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, Between, Wednesday, June 6.

He said this was related to the Kupang City Government's anticipation of the 2023/2024 PPDB from the practice of extortion.

In accordance with the technical guidelines for admitting new students that have been issued by the Education and Culture Office, he said, there are no levies in the PPDB because all funding comes from the operational budget of the education unit.

"So there is no reason for each school to collect fees because the budget has been allocated, unless there are things that cannot be financed by BOS funds, such as the procurement of batik clothes and sports clothes," he said.

The Kupang City Education and Culture Office has also issued a circular to all school principals not to buy batik clothes and sportswear at more than the prevailing price.

He added that when the admission of new students for the 2023/2024 academic year began on June 14, 2023, a zoning system was applied.

Okto Naitboho explained that the acceptance of new students was carried out through four channels, namely zoning, affirmation, achievement, and transfer.

"The number of study groups according to ministerial regulation number 23 concerning minimum service standards for basic education, the maximum for one study group may not exceed 28 people and for junior high schools it is not allowed more than 28 people," he said.

Head of SDI Sikumana Dua Adriana Leto said that the acceptance of new students at the school took place online June 14-16 2023 with a total of 84 students accepted for three study groups.

"We hope that parents can register their children from home through the link that has been shared and if there are new problems they can consult the school," he said.
